Will Arken and his loyal friends and allies have the strength to free Lanth, save Talya, and free the Nanders from slavery?
After escaping an Amarrat trap that comes close to destroying the last of his ships, Arken Freeth and his allies fight the Amarrat War on multiple fronts: the Amarrat blockade in his home city of Lanth, the Lantish island colony of Han Kun, and war parties raiding the Amarrats overland hunting parties.
Despite his valiant efforts during battle, Arken faces arrest by Gart's father, his longtime nemesis, who has gained considerable power through sinister means.
The dangers of war hit Arken hard as his betrothed, Talya, is taken prisoner and the question of the Nanders’ promised freedom from slavery is brought into question. Arken leads a slave rebellion in an attempt to depose the new illegitimate king, restore the Nander’s freedom, and save Talya from becoming Gart’s second wife.
